3 Ways to Celebrate Your Work Freedom

PICTURE

Blog Inspired By Derar Ayoush,

Co-Founder of The Remote Experience

Rarely do people associate freedom with work. We usually think of work as a place we go to earn a check…but it can be so much more, it is really all up to you. In 2000, I wrote a blog about the power of 3 will set you free….the choice to have freedom is to take control of your career choices…and look for what you need and want (concentrate on the positive), and you will attract it….here is the power of 3 re-invented for 2016.

3 Ways to Celebrate Your Work Freedom

  1. Find work that you love to do, that challenges you and gives you opportunities to grow (for tech people, work with companies using the latest technology).
  2. Work for a company that inspires collaboration, sharing, and is open to feedback (input). You will feel appreciated and heard.
  3. Work for a company that provides you a healthy life-work balance; financial (pays market value salaries), flexibility (come into the office at off hours to miss traffic, work remotely, or the remote experience), and social perks (opportunities to participate in the community, health benefits, and time to socialize with co-workers, like happy hour on Fridays).

Freedom comes with responsibility, how are you showing up to work every day? Are you accountable? Are you accomplishing your commitments in a timely matter? Are you supporting your co-workers and company to win? Are you contributing to the company by being forthcoming in a positive and mature manner?

Celebrate Your Freedom Today

Looking for freedom in life and work; consider working with Recruiting for Good, we find people great tech jobs they love, and fund their travel to see the world.

And check out The Remote Experience, the ultimate expression of Freedom, combining work and travel (BTW, Recruiting for Good, now helps fund this life experience).

Celebrate Your Life Through Travel

Life change

Special thanks to Brooke Self for reminding me that asking the right questions leads us to better understanding, more meaningful connections, and inspiration.

Did You Know “A robust 68 percent of job seekers who are millennials said an option to work remotely would greatly increase their interest in specific employers, according to a survey by AfterCollege, a career network for college students and recent grads. “Policies that cultivate a flexible, fun, and casual work environment have a positive impact” on young people’s interest in specific employers, the survey found.”

The Ultimate Work Life Travel Experience….Inspired by Brooke Self

Your life is a celebration…take every opportunity to live it fully…

Imagine, if you could work remotely for your current employer, while traveling and seeing the world. There are a number of companies that provide 3 month to 1 year programs. The companies take care of the details; provide living places, make travel arrangements, and offer a slew of co-working solutions to support workers. One huge added value, is you share the travel experience with other professionals; and see the world for good.

What I Love About These Professional Travel Programs?

You have to apply and qualify, they do extensive background checks. And all of them are up front about needing to be employed while traveling abroad.

How to Prepare the Boss So You Can Work Remotely?

  1. Have you proved to be a valuable employee? If you are consistently showing up for work, and exceeding your boss’s expectations you will have a better chance of convincing your boss.
  2. Your boss is not your parent. Don’t take it personal if your boss does not take you seriously, if he/she says no. You have choices;

a) Write a game plan, about how you are planning to fulfill your current responsibilities, meetings, and requirements. Most people have not traveled abroad…educating your boss on the availability to mobile phones, SKYPE, and WiFi is imperative.

b) You can commit to creating weekly logs, and reports that support your productivity. Also logging into the company’s server so your boss knows that you are working.

c) Prepare your boss for this conversation well in advance, talk to them 6 months to 1 year prior to taking off. While you work toward your departure, you have an opportunity to show your boss, you are an indispensable employee.

If the boss is unwilling to see it your way look for another job, weigh your life choices, no job will ever define the meaning of your life. But travel is by far the best investment yourself.

“We are using Recruiting for Good to help people realize their dreams through travel,” Carlos, Founder R4G, and “Brooke inspired us to help fund remote travel programs.”

How to Qualify for the Brooke Self Fund (Travel and Work Remotely)?

  1. Must be accepted to one of the remote programs listed above.
  2. Have a boss that is willing to support your dream to work remotely.
  3. Be a U.S. Citizen living in the U.S.; be nice, humble, and grateful.
  4. Be ready to collaborate in our personal travel funding service (at least 1 year in advance).
  5. Be a role model…make a difference in the community.

Thank You Fathom for Inspiring Gratitude

Thank You Fathom for Inspiring Gratitude

Special Thanks to Kim in Sales Department at Fathom for Believing in Our Intentional Endeavor…

Thank You Fathom for Inspiring Gratitude…The back story, Fathom rewarded me a trip to Dominican Republic in early February to experience their amazing impact+travel trips. At the end of the journey, the Fathom sales team rewarded me a second trip to join them after their official launch in April. I responded in kind, and said “Why don’t I create a fun creative contest, so someone in the community can win the trip to enjoy Fathom, and make a difference too.” And they agreed.

The topic for the creative writing contest was the following, “We know universally that the word ‘Love’ can make a difference and change the world; choose another word that can make a difference, and tell us why.”

After 5 creative writing events in March, and 68 entries, two awesome judges; David Andersen and Michelle Hart, chose a winner…Linnea M. Duvall…her word was Gratitude…and this is her inspiring entry, “Gratitude can change the world,  because as each of us is fully grateful and aware of all that we have, rather than striving and striving for more, we can begin to look around ourselves and see what our gratitude filled hearts can bestow on others to change and uplift their lives. As each life is uplifted and gifted there will be a “pay it forward” movement that can change the world!♥”

Linnea and a friend will be rewarded round-trip flights from LAX to enjoy a 7-Day Fathom cruise to Dominican Republic; “It’s a new kind of cruise that combines your love of travel with your desire to make a difference.”  To learn more visit Fathom Impact+Travel trips.

Beauty In The Ordinary:
We are Grateful to Reward Linnea Duvall

“Linnea thank you for playing and participating in our creative writing contest, we are so happy to reward you an amazing trip….and the call this morning to let you know you won, was the best.”

Linnea M. Duvall is a Marriage Family Therapist in Santa Monica, “Teens and families are my passion, because it is in our families that the future is forged. I DO believe our children are our future”. I work with both teens individually and parents because, “If Information is Power, then there is Power in Numbers. Providing Empowering Parenting Classes/Coaching to parents of pre-teens and teens”. To learn more about her practice, check out www.linneamduvallmft.com

As part of her Gratitude, Linnea volunteers in the community, holding a weekly Anger Management group for at-risk kids, and beginning individual EMDR sessions with them at Los Angeles Academy of Arts and Enterprise Charter School. www.laaae.org.

Lastly, Linnea is a creative social entrepreneur.  Her line of accessories and handbags is Glad Rag Bags, “All our handbags and accessories are crafted by hand by artisans in Latin America, from gathered “rags” if you will: Soda Can tabs, inner tube from tires, and coming soon, a line made from candy wrappers.”  5% of the proceeds of all sales are contributed to Preventing Cervical Cancer; Pincc.org is dedicated to improving women’s health globally by educating communities, training healthcare workers, and establishing self-sustaining cervical cancer prevention programs that prevent suffering and save women’s lives.
