The Art of Caring

The Art of Caring

The blog is inspired by a mom who I mentor…thru Our Moms Work. What moms say can heal us all (anyone who is feeling out of sort, stressed, worried, overwhelmed, not motivated, under appreciated, or vulnerable this is for you).

What I love about mentoring moms is we talk about everything…and in conversations the truth of life is revealed. The emotions, strains, and worries that moms feel for their kids, their lives, and the world all seem to collapse around one theme ‘Do I have the strength (stamina, energy to keep it together)’…The answer is yes…moms make it work…but at what cost…

That is why it is so important to downsize your caring for everything…simply care about the people and things you love most. Don’t get swept up in the sentiment of the times, if it does not align with your feelings or values, don’t join in…stay in your lane happy, healthy, and humble.

The Art of Caring Starts with You

Discover what you care about by creating questions (and list of answers)

Have you made a list of your values, what matters to you, what you want out of life, who you want to be, what you want to create, who are your friends (or significant other), how you find self fulfillment, what is success to you, how you become a success, how you succeed at work, how you make a positive impact with family and friends…these are just some ideas…

And when you start…the journey in itself is loving and The Art of Caring really begins.

How to Inspire Kids to Love Work

How to Inspire Kids to Love Work

Inspired By Shay, 6th Grade

“Shay is a insightful and energetic girl who aspires to be an engineer.”

I met Shay with her mom, I got to thinking about how I can inspire Shay to love becoming an engineer. It all started with a conversation, that led to a question…and the question led to an answer…make it fun.

One of the key skills of an engineer is asking the right questions to solve problems. So, I am hiring Shay for the Summer Gig for Kids to write questions every week that solve world problems. Creating a fun game to learn a great skill; and why not earn some money too…if you use your talent for good…get compensated too.

Why I Love to Help Moms and Kids?

Written By Happy Mom…Ben and Shay Kids…

Today is Mother’s Day and I’d like to take a moment to thank Carlos Cymerman for doing good.

One of the tricky parts of being a single mum is that, even if your kids want to shower you with Mother’s Day gifts, there is no other adult around to help them materialize their loving ideas. Consequently, our usual choices are 1) telling our kids we don’t want to make a fuss, or 2) turning Mama Day into yet another errand on our to-do list. Needless to say, neither option is terribly enjoyable for the mum herself.

This year, however, Recruiting for Good presented a third option. Through its Goodie Foodie Club, my two middle schoolers were able to “earn” rather delicious mama gifts this lovely Sunday in May.

Though “passion” and “play” are both priceless pieces of the human condition, “purpose” is the tricky one of the three, much harder to find, and even harder to grasp. This morning, however, my kids tasted the power of purpose in more ways than one…and I am grateful for that in more ways than one.
